This took quite a long time to complete, but the results were great. One class used watercolor for the background, one used oil pastels. I liked the oil pastels for the brighter, richer color. After discussing warm and cool colors, the students got to pick which color family they would use for their sky. Then, we drew in a tree and started collaging torn paper in the shape of the branches. Later, we made a simple owl stamp from foam and printed our owls onto the finished artwork. Adding the eyes and beak of the owls was best done using tempera and q-tips after the owls are dry.
